Yay, knitting!

Yay, knitting!

can you believe they pay me to do this?
can you believe they pay me to do this?

So what's this then?

Welcome to my blog. I'm a knitter, voraciously and vociferously so. I am fortunate enough to be working in a yarn store in Saratoga, CA, where I'm Knitting Doctor and Teacher of Workshops.

Since I still have to work for a living, I am also a webdesigner.

Originally from Sweden, I now live (with my hubby, 2 daughters, and 2 cats) in Santa Cruz, CA.

26 November 06 - 00:20Feels like I just did this...

Tomorrow I open the store, and we still have the sale going on! 15% off everything, yay! :) I get to see Audie, he's such a dear. I have to figure out what days I missed on my timecard for last month - it looks like I forgot to write down a Sunday and a Tuesday! Ooops! :D

No Knitting Doctor tomorrow (sale, duh!), and no Knitting Doctor next week because we have the Habu Trunkshow!! You should come check out the trunkshow if you can, I'm sure there will be some truly awesome (and some truly weird) stuff there.

Come to think of it, I actually have a SUNDAY OFF, for the second time ever since I was hired two years ago! I do work Saturday though, so I don't get a whole weekend, but the Sunday means we can go to our friends' birthday party in Hayward. Very nice. :)

Oh well, up early so off to bed...

24 November 06 - 22:07Sale == exhaustion! :)

Ok, so I roused my children out of bed at 4:30 this morning, so that we could be in Saratoga at 6am. I wasn't actually scheduled until 6:30, but I figured chances were Jan would need help setting up... and it was a good thing - women were coming in the door starting at 6:05!

Lynessa was sick and didn't go, but I brought Mackenzie in her stead. The girls were handing out coupons to all the customers coming in the door.

Oh, and the Knitting Arts wreath is up... in front of Gervais, the restaurant next door *smirk*. Here it is, big ol' needles, macramé cord, and all:

Yup, I'm pretty happy with it :) These wreaths were passed out undecorated to 30 merchants on the street, and I glanced today and didn't really see any others that were decorated by the theme of the store as ours is. Yay us :)

18 November 06 - 23:08That went well!

I had 3 full (and one not so full) workshops today, and they all went very well. The knit the other way people all got it, and the finishing 101-ers were mattress stitching like pros! I think I managed to convey my love of all things mattress stitch to them in a suitable manner :)

Oh and entrelac went much better with the new pattern. There were a couple of doozies typo-wise in the old one, but that's all taken care of now.

Now tomorrow it's knitting doctor and duplicate stitch :)

15 November 06 - 22:09Busy, busy, busy...

This weekend I am teaching five, count 'em: five workshops. Decorative Needle Felting, Entrelac, Knit the Other Way, Finishing 101, and then Duplicate Stitch on Sunday.

I am loving the entrelac purse. I am not so much loving writing up the pattern, but hey... it's gotta be done!

Knit the other way is going to be interesting. I keep having these visions of big posters and an easel, showing nifty diagrams and drawings, but I can't draw :/ And every illustration I can find is copyrighted and therefore unusable :/ *sigh* Oh well, I'll come up with something :)

10 November 06 - 23:34More workshops!

I finished the mosaic mitt! And the beaded wrist warmer! And the entrelac purse that just needed sewing!! Squee! :)

Now if only my dear husband could answer his cellphone so I know when to pick him up, life would be easier...
