Yay, knitting!

Yay, knitting!

can you believe they pay me to do this?
can you believe they pay me to do this?

So what's this then?

Welcome to my blog. I'm a knitter, voraciously and vociferously so. I am fortunate enough to be working in a yarn store in Saratoga, CA, where I'm Knitting Doctor and Teacher of Workshops.

Since I still have to work for a living, I am also a webdesigner.

Originally from Sweden, I now live (with my hubby, 2 daughters, and 2 cats) in Santa Cruz, CA.

30 May 08 - 19:37And the dawn of a new one! :)

I am pleased (VERY pleased) to announce that I will be continuing as Knitting Doctor at Green Planet Yarn in Campbell! It's a fabulous store and I'm very excited to be able to continue doing the same ting I've been doing at Knitting Arts.

My first day is Sunday June 8 - PLEASE come see me! :)

23 May 08 - 00:49End of an era :(

Jan announced today that she is closing Knitting Arts. The store was open for almost five years, I worked there for 3 1/2 of them. It was a wonderful place with fantastic regulars and an incredible community, of which I was personally quite proud.

11 May 08 - 00:49I <3 our regulars!

OMG! I got to Knitting Arts today, had the cupcake class (fun!), hung out, and then had the best. cake. ever. Jennifer made it, and it was just like birthday cake back home! Then Carol (Singing Carol) handed me a gift that was tube shaped. The thought "poster?" went through my head, but it was heavier than that. Ripping off the paper, I discover a plastic tube with objects wrapped in purple tissue paper. After some fighting to get the tube opened, I unveil... SIGNATURE KNITTING NEEDLES!!! ZOMG!!!11!eleventy!! 3 pairs, sizes 8, 9 and 10. These are the coolest things ever, and apparently everyone knew and they'd been planning this since March!!! I drooled over them at Stitches West, but couldn't really see spending the money. I was SO surprised and am so touched. I love these people :)

09 May 08 - 05:41I turn Life, The Universe, and Everything!

Yay, birthday! People favorited the cupcake before I've even had a chance to complete the upload of the pattern! How cool is that?! :D

04 March 08 - 12:50A book. Yep!

I am going to write a book, a knitting book to be precise. This is funny, because when I was younger, I was convinced that I would someday write a book, as soon as I had come up with the perfect opening sentence... you know, "it was a dark, stormy night" :D I would actually sit on the bus (or anywhere else where I was prone to daydreaming) and think of good opening lines. Not surprisingly, I never came up with the perfect one, so I never started writing my book.

Oh well, fast forward 25 years, and here I am!

My idea for the book is to compile all those little tips and tricks peope ooh and aah over, and put them in the book along with patterns that use them. I'll keep you posted on my progress! :)

15 November 07 - 00:55First Ravelry linked pattern :)

Here's the pattern for the Moebius Shawlette I mentioned several (fine, many) posts ago. We'll be doing a knitalong on this at the store at some point soon.

11 November 07 - 02:10Ravelry and blogging

I wish I was one of those witty, constant bloggers. I can't seem to get it together to post very often, and I have to somewhat watch what I say, what with maintaining a professional image and what not. I'm assuming most of you who read this (hello, are you there?) come here because I'm at Knitting Arts, and so therefore I am in some way representing the store in all I do. Not that I'm normally some vulgar, wise-cracking person, but... wait... I am! :D

Oh, if you are on Ravelry, please add me as a friend. My username there is godmoma (what else would it be, hm?) :)

08 October 07 - 08:41okie-dokie

So, last year, we had the fingerless mitts from Interweave's holiday issue as a workshop. They are way cool, so we brought them back this year! I'm currently making the sample in *drool* Cloud 9. Love, love, love that yarn!

In other news, I just balanced a horrific credit (I was in the red by lots and lots of money), so now I can check out yarn again! Yay, yarn! :D

My office is being organized thanks to the formidable Melissa, and it looks like I'm going to be setting up my front area as an actual knitting space. I'm moving my Friday 5:30 - 7:30 class there, and it is going to be sooooo fabulous! Excitement!!

Bedtime, I think... :)
